Since the dawn of time (ok maybe not quite that long) I have been hoping to find a filing cabinet. Not a typical steel office one, but a lovely wooden one, with brass handles and tag holders. I have hunted high and low, been outbid on eBay (what's new?) and rejected many left out on the side of the road knowing there was something better out there...
Last week my patience finally paid off when I came across this in Vinnie's...
It's lovely, it's wooden...
It has the much desired brass handles...
I love the nice bevelled detailing...
Best of all it cost $30, which means with my free typewriter, $3 lamp and cute $2 Eiffel Tower, this little grouping cost $35 in total :-)

well and truly worth the wait, it's lovely! : )
Proof that good things come to those who wait.
Oh yes well worth the wait and a good bargain to boot. Very cute superhero and sidekick!
Very nice! Isn't it the best feeling to find the perfect thing at the perfect price?
Oooohhhhh! It is wonderful! I love wood and brass. Your kiddos are super cute too ;)
Very nice! I love the brass handles :)
Batman! Wow.
How lucky you are treasures and little men!
I love your filing cabinet. My step-father has one really, really ancient dark wood that I've been pestering for...
Thanks for stopping by my blog. In the new year I will be showing a lot more of my vintage items. I'm renovating so there is no wall photo ready!

Oh MY! Santa came early, huh?!...
Ooooh, I'd love a filing cabinet too! Even though I don't strictly have any 'files'. I love the way H is casually dressed as Batman on a normal day of the week - why don't adults dress up more?
what a great find for a great price, can't beat that.
Congrats on your find, it's lovely! The brass bits are so great :)
How fortunate!
The filing cabinet is lovely.
I hope you'll post photos of your Christmas tree...the ornaments you got for a song are so colorful and cheery :+)
Blessings~

I love your blog, which I've enjoyed browsing over the past few days since stumbling upon it. I think we are kindred spirits, thrifting and blogging as we can with our little ones in tow. My "photo shoots" usually consist of me instructing my kids to "move your hand (foot, head, etc.) a little bit so it doesn't come out in the picture" since you know kids have to touch EVERYTHING. Love your filing cabinet and all the little details.
what a beautiful piece!! thanks for finding my blog! love yours as well!
Love the top, and the brass handle.
Your kids are adorable.
Congrats on your great find! I know what you mean - those old metal ones are the pits, as are the new particle board ones. I feel this way about desks too - old, solid, wood, with good bones and good handles.
Beautiful, and I love the Eiffel Tower, I collect them.
Non-thrifters (or Freaks as some may call them) just can not know the joy that is finding that hold out item! I always wish there was a little stage with a bell in thrift stores that people could ring and announce their super finds!
I bet that file cabinet has never felt so loved!
Happy 2010, wishing you many more SCORES! (just not in MY thrift stores)
Thats terrific. The new metal ones are just ugly - I have a new wood one thats not much better and if I could find an old wood one I would grab it!
