Snowflakes Falling

You may remember me showing off my gorgeous festive red snowflake pyrex dish in a couple of previous posts, here it is...

Well, I have some bad news, not long after my Festive Finds post we were having friends over for lunch, I loaded my gorgeous dish up with summer vegetables, drowned them in lashings of olive oil and left it on the kitchen counter ready to put into the oven.

A few minutes later some complete idiot* was sweeping the floor and with the top of the broom handle knocked the dish off the counter, onto the floor whereupon it shattered into a thousand tiny pieces...

It's for the best I was too busy cleaning up the massacre of glass and oil to even think of taking a photo of the tragedy, it would have brought tears to the eyes of all my fellow pyromaniacs (you know who you are). I have only now been able to bring myself to post about it. And all the lovely comments I got commenting on how rare it must be and how people haven't seen the red snowflake design before have shattered any hopes I may have of finding another.

However I did find this a few weeks ago...

A gorgeous big aqua snowflake casserole, my favourite colour and large enough for big family meals, this is my new favourite :-)

Oh dear - and yes, I have had the same thing happen to me. Only mine held apricot chicken (hey, it was a LONG time ago - I was cooking a meant-to-impress dinner for my first boyfriend).

Oh thank god this story has a happy ending. While the red is my favourite, this is a pretty good replacement especially as it is your favourite colour.
Cheers

PS Just getting out of the flu haze, but then went and made myself sick again with a nasty trip (my first one ever, I always had good experiences) to the dentist!!!

I am so sorry to hear about your loss! One of my worries when I use my small but beloved collection of pyrex is that I will break one. The large aqua casserole is lovely. I recently found an aqua snowflake on white 1 1/2 quart space saver casserole unfortuantely missing a lid. It has the only kind of snowflakes that I really like i.e. stylized decorative designs. I love the pyromaniac term although I am sure my husband would not!

Things will break that is life! You found a new treasure that is really fabulous! I'm sure you'll find a red one someday, don't despair!

This Pyromaniac feels it in her bones!

Uh oh, I'd have been distraught. But it seems the op shop Gods saw your pain and delivered a better dish. Yah.

This is why we blog, so that lovely little dishes which sadly get broken will never be forgotten!

Ouch, I feel your pain. Your new aqua one is lovely. It almost makes up for your loss. Have you ever visited the Pyrex Love website? It's fun just to look at all the different patterns and learn their names.
