Sweet Find

I came across these cute story book/records in Vinnie's recently and of course, being the big nostalgic kid I am, couldn't resist them :-)

They were made in the 1960s and each book is beautifully illustrated and contains a double sided record.

I can just imagine a little kid all cosy in their pyjamas excitedly waiting for their Mum to flip over to Side B to hear how the story ended :-)

Aaah, life before MP3s, DVDs, WIIs...

I loved books on record when I was a kid. I always went mad looking for mum or dad to turn the record over so I could keep on with the story. At least they knew they had a good 20min stretch or so before I'd require their attention.

What a brilliant find! We always come home from our fave secondhand shop with at least 1 book for the 4yo (argh - overflowing bookshelves!). Last week I scored Blinky Bill for $2. A childhood favourite of mine.

I LOVE the way things like this can bring back childhood memories for our generation :-) LittleByrd - I don't have a record player with us here in Oz but isn't this just the perfect excuse to hunt down a gorgeous vintage aqua one!

What fun!
I remember these and the excitement of getting home to listen to them. You could order them in the Scholastic readers back in the day. Such a simple childhood joy...
