My Dad left Sydney last night to return to Ireland after a wonderful 12 days here. As usual I was a bawling heap when he was leaving. To say I adore my Dad and think he's the best thing since sliced bread is a huge understatement. I am so lucky to have such a wonderful father and my little boys are just mad about their fantastic Grandad.
This was his 8th visit to Sydney in the last 8 years and I love how the boys just picked things straight back up from when they last saw him. H was chatting straight away about everything from soccer to space and promptly dumped me as school dropper off-er and picker up-er in favour of Grandad. S spent the whole 12 days planted firmly on his Grandad's knee whenever he had the chance and D was like a little stalker wanting to know where Grandad was every time he left the room for even a second :-)
Our time was filled with lovely outings, meals out, some beach trips, good weather and not-so-good weather and lovely times just chilling out at home...

Just thought I'd share a few favourite photos from his trip...

We all love you Dad and miss you so much already. We're so happy you're such a big part of our lives here and your little Grandsons are dying to see you again already :-)

Such lovely photos but even you just mentioning that you were a crying heap when he left made me cry a bit in sympathy. It's bittersweet spending that lovely time together and sometimes I wish I lived down the road from my parents and they drove me mad rather than living so goddam faraway from them. Still, looks like you had a great time despite the weather!
Oh you made me cry too! Lovely photos of the time he was here, so glad you all had so much fun! xx
I felt exactly the same about my daddy when he was alive...he was such a wonderful father and I really miss him.
I love that pic of you and yours drinking the hugest glasses of beer I've ever seen! Surely they're too big to be mere pints?
I love the pic of the three boys on your Dads lap, so cute. Looks like you fit a lot into the time he was here. I am the same as Kylie as my Dad is no longer with us but he was a special one like yours. Hope it doesn't seem like too long that you are back together again.
Aw, so sweet, I'm getting teary too! Lovely lovely post :)
Glad I'm not the only one tearing up! My dad (and mum) are also in the UK, (me and family in WA). Was the rainy shot the Blue Mountains? I went once and couldn't see a thing because it rained so hard- allegedly there are 3 sisters??!! Love your blog xx
It looks like a lot of fun!
Thanks girls, we had a wonderful time. Glad to hear of other lovely dads out there :-) Kylie, we were drinking 500ml beers at Lowenbrau in the Rocks! LAFE - the photo was taken at Fitzroy Falls near Bowral in the Southern Highlands, very similar landscape to the Blue Mountains :-)
